About The Project

Orwell Housing Association was formed in 1963 in Ipswich, employing no staff and managing a handful of properties. Today, Orwell provides a range of services including housing, support, and care services. Orwell manages 3,500 homes for 7000 residents. We have worked with Orwell Housing since 2012 through the Eastern Procurement Limited framework. We have supplied over 600 kitchens for the client through Foster Property Maintenance.

Levington Court is one of Orwell Housing’s extra care schemes. Orwell Care offers Very Sheltered Housing as an alternative to residential care for people who are usually above retirement age. Accommodation is self-contained with its own front door, bedroom, lounge, kitchen, and bathroom. This scheme has facilities for those who require extra care, especially for residents with dementia or mental health problems.

During the infamous winter storms in 2013, there were many instances of sea flooding. Levington Court was one such example when the North Sea rose to flood the building with over a metre of water. With such catastrophic damage, the building and its facilities needed a drastic renovation before its residents, many of whom were relocated in the middle of the night to temporary accommodation elsewhere, could move back in.

Premiere played a critical part in the improvement plan by supplying new improved kitchens from our Tyrone range. The wall units used were glass-fronted to aid the patients with dementia and improve the usability of the kitchen while allowing other residents to go about their daily routines unabated.

Completing this project as quickly as possible was very important so it was an outstanding achievement to see the residents enjoying their improved living accommodation within 6 months.

We received a great deal of positive feedback from the open day suggesting how happy the residents are with their new kitchen and accommodation.
